Flu Vaccination Rules

As from 1st January 2024 any vaccination restarts should follow the following injection time frames;

Initial Vaccination

2nd Vaccination – Must be administered from 21 days to 60 days after the initial vaccination – Once completed horses are now allowed to compete under BRC rules

3rd Vaccination – Must be administered from 120 days to 180 days after the 2nd vaccination

Yearly Boosters – Yearly vaccinations must be administered no more than 1 year apart (6 Monthly boosters are strongly recommended by BRC but not compulsory).

Vaccinations started BEFORE 1st January 2024 must follow the rules below;

Initial Vaccination – 2nd vaccination must have been administered from 21 days to 92 days after the initial vaccination – 3rd Vaccination must have been administered from 150 days to 215 days after the 2nd Vaccination – Yearly Booster – must be administered no more than 1 year apart.

Horses passports are checked at all Mercian and BRC Area Competitions.  Failure to show your passport at these competitions can result in elimination

 

Hat Tagging

At all Mercian and BRC Area competitions hats must be to BRC standard (see page 33 of BRC rule book) and tagged with a visible pink hat tag with either the BRC, BE or PC logo on.  Failure to do so will incur elimination.

Body Protectors – AS FROM 1ST JANUARY 2024 PURPLE LABEL NO LONGER ACCEPTED

As from 1st January 2024 the BETA 2009 Purple label is no longer accepted.  From 1st January 2024 ONLY a BETA level 3 body protector displaying a BLUE 2018 label will be accepted in competitions where a body protector is obligatory. (ie all competitions involving cross country and arena eventing).
