I returned back to Gloucester from the North East in 2020 and rejoined FFRC as the chairperson.  Prior to moving to the North East, I had been the Team Manager for FFRC for many years.  I enjoy competing my Irish Draught called Agherlow Gold (Gerry) in BRC competitions and British Showjumping, having qualified for numerous BRC Championships and somehow becoming the 2021 Winter Intro Dressage Championship winners……and we don’t do stressage!  I also breed Knabstruppers, spotted horses that originate from Denmark www.waterbankstud.co.uk

Suki Ross & Benhills Clementine

Vice Chairperson – Suki Ross

I’m Suki, you may have seen me around.  I’m the one with the ever changing hair colour!!  I joined the committee back in 2022 where I took over as Team Manager from Kelly Clack for all things jumping related, and I’ve loved every second of it!  Back in my younger years I had the privilege of looking after a gorgeous New Forest Pony called Flicker, which was perfect since I grew up in the countryside of May Hill, surrounded by nothing but fields and woodland.  Unfortunately, life got in the way and children came about, leading me to move away from the equestrian world…but I’m back and I haven’t looked back!  I have since studied in Equine Psychology, Equine Behaviours and trained in Animal Reiki.  I now own two young ponies, Hendrix a little cheeky cob x who prefers life his way, and my little Welshie, Clementine, who has taken to the in-hand show world by storm and who hopefully once broken in under saddle will be out competing for FFRC in the future.
Since being a part of FFRC it has been amazing to meet so many like minded, friendly people.  You re always welcomed with open arms and huge smiles no matter your ability, experience or age.  The atmosphere absolutely rings true to the name ‘family’ riding club.

James Wilson & Spot

Treasurer – James Wilson

I’m James, prior to meeting my partner a year ago I had no horsey knowledge at all, I’ve always had a huge love of animals but never realised I wanted a horse until now!  I now loan an Andalusian horse called Nero and I also enjoy taking care of my partners retired horse Spot who I have also done some in-hand showing with.
I am looking forward to meeting lots of new people in the horsey community, broadening my knowledge of horses and maybe soon getting out and competing with the club!

Susie Drake & Clonkeen Dawn (Connie)

Club Secretary & Mercian Team Manager – Susie Drake

Hi, I’m Susie,  I am on the FFRC Committee, I take the Minutes at our monthly and AGM meetings.  I took over from Mel Glover in 2019  as Mercian Team Manager.
I started to “ride” as a child, my mother used to lead me on a very old pony around the village where we lived.  Neither of my parents were horsey so i never had posh ponies or transport when I was growing up.  I remember when I was 6 going to the Post Office to withdraw £27.00 which I very proudly told the cashier that I was going to buy my first pony which was a dapple grey from the local riding school.  I don’t remember ever having any lessons until I joined the Pony Club.
I moved on to a bigger pony when  was about 12.  I was one of the first members of the Minchinhampton Pony Club, attended all the rallies and camps, which were great fun.
I bought my first ‘proper’ horse in my mid twenties, Sarah, aged 4, i.e. she had been correctly broken and schooled,  Sarah gave me the confidence to enjoy and compete at pre-novice and novice horse trials.  Sarah and I were together for 27 years during which she produced her daughter Lizzi who passed away at the age of 22.
I have also had a selection of registered Dartmoor ponies which I have shown in hand at County and breed shows.
Having not competed for about 16 years I joined FFRC to meet like minded people and get back on the competition scene. I now have a family of four who I have had from foals or just broken youngsters. Arthur, a complete legend, does absolutely everything at his own pace and style, causing great hilarity and cheering at his first Mercian event at Lincombe.  Connie, who wants to do everything at great speed, usually causing me to fall off!!   Violet who is very beautiful but opinionated and Zana my posh dressage giant.
I have competed with FFRC in the Mercian league with Arthur and Connie.  Arthur has also competed in Area Showjumping and Arena Eventing, Violet and Zana have competed in Area Dressage.  We also do unaffiliated dressage and dressage to music as well as the odd showing class.

Rachel Dennis & Ginny

MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY  – Rachel Dennis

I’m quite new to the committee, joining in January 2023 and started off with organising sponsorship for the club.  I have now picked up the role of membership secretary, so if you have any questions or need help with anything you’re more than welcome to get in touch with me.  I have been riding for 26 years, I have worked at a Riding School as well as sharing a variety of different horses before getting my mare in 2015 and my gelding in 2016.  I own two thoroughbreds, Ginny & Smithy, one now retired and the other I will be doing inhand classes from next year.  She has done a few inhand shows before, but now I have more time on my hands to get stuck in again!
FFRC has been very welcoming and I have enjoyed meeting new people who are like minded and relaxed.

Acacia Ross & Hendrix

Newsletter Editor – Acacia Ross (Junior)

My name is Acacia, I am a Junior member of Frampton Family Riding Club and the monthly newsletter editor.

I started riding when I was 6/7 years old.  I have groomed at County shows, I have backed a variety of ponies which have gone on to show homes, hunting homes and happy hacker homes.  I have shown successfully in hand at low level and County Shows, done some dressage and some showjumping.  I own a pony called Hendrix who can be a little cheeky, I have owned him since he was a foal and backed him myself.

I am hoping to get out to do some dressage with the Mercian Team this year and maybe some more showjumping.
